Chancel Choir
The Church of the Roses Chancel Choir is open to all singers wanting to make a “joyful noise” unto the Lord. We are a group of non-professional, but passionate singers and we invite you to join us!
We sing every Sunday morning for worship services and sing two large cantatas a year.
We meet on Thursday evenings in the Sanctuary from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Please join us!
Bellissimo
Our hand bell choir works with four octaves of bells. We perform for the morning worship services once or twice a month and on special occasions. Bellissimo meets on Thursday evenings at 6:10 p.m. in the Sanctuary. We invite anyone who can read music to check us out. Prior hand bell experience not required.
Roses Signature Concert Series
Church of the Roses hosts the Roses Signature Concert Series. These concerts feature mostly Sonoma County musical groups, and take place once a month. The concerts are open to the community. Please check our “Roses Signature Concert Series” webpage for more information.
Carol Menke, Director of Music Ministries
Lyric soprano Carol Menke is well known to Bay Area audiences as a vocal soloist and chamber music collaborator. She studied at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria and has been coached by some of Europe’s finest recitalists, including Elly Ameling, Jörg Demus, and Norman Shetler. Upon hearing her perform one of his newly composed chamber works, the renowned composer Alan Hovhaness acknowledged and praised her “perfect musicianship.”
Ms. Menke holds an M.A. in Vocal Performance from California State University, Chico. The Santa Rosa Children’s Choral Academy, with whom she has worked since 1984, continues to thrive and has achieved high praise during Ms. Menke’s tenure as Artistic Director. She is a member of the music faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College, Music Director of Cantiamo Sonoma, and was Director of Music at the Church of the Incarnation in Santa Rosa for 25 years before joining Presbyterian Church of the Roses as our new Choir Director.
